Legend about Maitreya

When Shakyamuni Buddha taught his disciples, he talked about the past Buddha, the present Buddha and the future Buddha. Sakyamuni is the present Buddha, the original six Buddhas are the Buddhas of the past, and the future Buddhas are the Maitreya Buddhas. The last Buddha is to go to the end of the last law when the robbery, the next life to save the sentient beings to the Buddha of the future world. In the Taoist history, he also talked about Maitreya many times, calling it the Maitreya or the Shangzu, and it is the avenue of saving the sentient beings after the end. So, when will Maitreya pass away?

There is such a story in the sutra, saying that there is a demon king, Bo Xun, to slap the law of the Buddha. Sakyamuni Buddha said that you can't mess, because my law is Fa-rectification. The devil said, I can't mess now, because your law is too positive, but when the end of the law, I will send my disciples and grandchildren, put on your beggar, sit in your temple, mess with your law! Sakyamuni Nifo ran down after listening to tears. Liu Bowen of the Ming Dynasty also said that the future of the Buddha was born, saying that the gods in the heavens and the earth were in great bounds. From the historical records and various legends, Maitreya Buddha is the only hope that all beings will be saved in the future.

The future Buddha is also called Maitreya Buddha, and the Tibetan language is called "strong Pakistan." Maitreya is the abbreviation for Sanskrit Maitreya, which is the meaning of "Cai". It is said that this Buddha often has a compassionate heart, "Amitabha Sutra" said: "Or the words Maitreya, this is the Ci. It is cultivated by Peter and more lovingly, more than compassionate, so the words of Ci, the best in cultivation, the incompetence Victory."

According to the Buddhist scriptures, Sakyamuni Buddha said that his disciple, Ayi Duo (that is, invincible), will be built into Maitreya. Ayi Duo was born in a Brahmin family in the ancient Indian state of Bologna, and later became a Buddhist disciple. Before he died in Nirvana, he died first. Sakyamuni predicted that after he left this world, he would go to the Heavenly Palace and play the Dharma with the heavens. After many years, he would save the sentient beings from the next day.

Historically, the bag and the monk have also been cultivated as Maitreya. According to the "Song Gao Biography" records, this is the Ming Dynasty people in the Five Dynasties, and Chang Tingzi, often holding a tin cane, hanging a bag on the pole, entering and leaving the towns and villages, traveling in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. He is short and fat, has a big belly, has impermanence, and sits on his back. He is quite fulfilled with people. He can predict the rain. "Heavenly rain, that is, wet shoes; dry, that is, rafting. The residents take this as an examination." Because he always bears a bag, he is called a bag monk.

Maitreya Buddha is deeply admired in history. In the Tang Dynasty, the three Tibetan Masters Xuanzang, because of the master of the Nalanda Temple of India, the Master of the Sage, the dream of getting Maitreya Buddha and the two Bodhisattva points, bitterly waited for three years to accept Xuan Zang as a disciple, so a lifetime longing for Maitreya Pure Land. "Da Tang, Xuan Zang Master's Act": "The Master has always wanted to be born in Maitreya, and traveled to the West. He also heard that the Bodhisattva brothers are willing to go to life, to serve Maitreya, and to do so. In the test, Gai Zeng Ke Li. Homemade jade flowers, every time because of translation, and worship, Heng Yi is willing to rise to the sky, see Maitreya." He is constantly holding the name of Maitreya when he is ignorant. And his disciple Qi Nian Maitreya came to pray for the inner court. Xuan Zang’s disciple, Master Peiji, and the famous poet Bai Juyi of the Tang Dynasty, also made great wishes to go to the world of Maitreya.

Before the Five Dynasties and the Song Dynasty, the Maitreya Buddha statues were mainly composed of the Bodhisattva and the Rut, both of which were created according to the Maitreya Sutra and the Maitreya Sutra. The Bodhisattva-shaped Maitreya image mainly shows the image of Maitreya Bodhisattva in the Heavenly Palace for the heavens. The Buddha costumes are sitting with their feet crossed, or they are drooping with their left feet and the right hand holding the cheeks. The Maitreya image is not much different from the statue of Sakyamuni. Beginning with the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Buddha statue of Maitreya appeared in China.
