GUCCI Shanghai New Flagship Store
Gucci announced that the new flagship store in Shanghai, which covers an area of 1600 square meters, will be grandly opened at the end of May 2009. The new store is located at the intersection of Nanjing West Road and Shaanxi North Road, adjacent to the Hang Lung Plaza, and is a prime location in Shanghai. The flagship store in Shanghai will be Gucci's 28th store in mainland China, and the first Gucci store in Mainland China to adopt the latest design concept of Frida Giannini, the brand's creative director. It will become New York, Rome, Munich, Hong Kong and London. Another successful case of this concept design was used by world famous cities.
The Shanghai flagship store is divided into two levels. The store is spacious, comfortable, warm and bright, reflecting Gucci's determination and commitment to the development of the Chinese luxury market. Giannini's extraordinary design powerfully affirmed Gucci's growing position in the Asian market and symbolized Gucci's contemporary image in the 21st century.
Giannini explained: "The new design concept is mainly to make the store's decorative design brighter and brighter. Each city has its own characteristics and style, but also retains a strong warm and intimate temperament. For Shanghai, I think Incorporating a modern architectural style that fits into this contemporary city, on the other hand, it retains the iconic materials and elements that are closely linked to Gucci's historical heritage."
Giannini's innovative concept uses an open space, using natural light and warm and precious materials, especially a giant gold glass curtain wall of 19 x 43 meters, to create dazzling visual effects. This transparent glass façade is up to five layers in height, making it easy to use natural light, and it can be seen from inside or outside the store. The interior decoration still uses Gucci's signature materials: mahogany and marble, combined with the application of new elements such as ribbed glass, polished rose gold, smoked glass mirror and smoked bronze glass, Gucci's long history of elegant style and luxurious taste is fully revealed.
Gucci's unique two-tone pattern and geometric lines are the main features of the interior space. The floor is paved with white marble and separated by black marble strips that extend up to the wall and meet the ceiling's golden metal. Bronze glass and bronze mirrored walls create a warm environment. One design feature worth mentioning is the staircase, which uses gold and transparent plexiglass vertical railings to reflect the entire space.
